You are a Mighty Mom!

Good morning mamas :) I hope all of you are still feeling like the mighty warrior moms that God created us to be! Wasn't Arlene Pellicane great?! I LOVED her enthusiasm and the message she brought to us.

LEAVE ME ALONE, I'M HIDING IN THE BATHROOM!

Her message focused on Gideon in the book of Judges and how he felt like hiding. Arlene reminded us of 3 things as moms we need to remember when all we feel like doing is hiding in the bathroom.

* The Lord is with you mighty warrior!  Judges 6:12
Remember you are a mighty warrior mom!!

- Give yourself a good name to live up to as well as your kids. If you think of yourself as indecisive, lazy or messy...that's exactly what you will be. Same goes for your children! Be sure to give them a positive name to live up to!

* Go in the strength that you have and save Israel! Judges 6:14
Remember that the strength you have is sufficient! Make plans & decisions.
Don't put off things because you feel like you aren't prepared enough, or not good
          enough.

* I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites! Judges 6:16
Strike down negativity & the "victim" mentality
Strike down comparing...be comfortable in your own shoes
And remember that God is always with you!

You my friends are all mighty moms of valor and God is with us all, always.

Dr. Tran's Q & A

Happy Thursday ladies! Here's a recap of last Wednesday's meeting with Dr. Lin. There were MANY topics covered, but I am only going to summarize a few.

Medicine: Ibuprofen (Motrin) vs Acetaminophen (Tylenol)- It's best to try and see which one works better on your child. Switching from one to the other is not usually beneficial and can actually cause stomach aches. You can however, layer the two, if the first one you gave isn't working.

Example: You started your child on Motrin at 12pm...by 3pm his fever still isn't down. Make sure to write down that you gave Motrin at 12pm, then give him the proper dose of Tylenol & write that down as well. You can then give more Motrin at 6pm if his fever is still high.

Stiches: Take your child in as soon as possible if edges of cut do not go back together. The longer you wait to get stitches the more tissue build up there is.

ER vs Urgent Care: If your child is 2 or under try and find a pediatric urgent care.

Going to sleep issues: Best solution is to try and have a routine every night and do it as consistently as possible.

Every mom & dad should BLS certified (basic life support) or at least have taken a course to be familiar in what to do with emergency situations.

I know he said he has NO INTEREST in trying to get new patients, BUT I'm going to list his contact info anyway....because we all know a good pediatrician can be hard to find!
