The start of a New Semester & Food for Talk

Welcome back ladies! Can you believe it's 2013?! M2M is filled with an amazing line up of speakers this semester and we started it off with Julienne Smith. Food for Talk is a great tool to build our families & grow closer to our kids. I hope you were able to pull at least one tip from her talk & apply it at home. I've listed her reasons and guidelines below in case you missed it!

"Say no to some good things (whatever takes away from dinner time together), in order to say yes to the best thing (dinner as a family)."

Top 5 Reasons to have Family Meal Time:

1. Better grades in school
2. Significantly less risk of drug & alcohol abuse
3. Better adjustment, fewer behavioral problems in school, reduced risk of depression &     sucucide
4. Significantly reduce risk of weight problems/obesity
5. You will have a stronger family

Top 5 Guidelines for "How To" do Family Meal Time:

1. Be intentional
2. No electronics
3. No interruptions- no arguing, lectures, sermons
4. Keep it simple- get everyone involved
5. Aim for 30+ minutes around the dinner table

Now onto a few reminders:

"Blessing Box"- This semester we are starting the "Blessing Box". How it works is this....Sometime during the semester you will receive a box on your front door filled with some goodies to brighten your day. It will be anonymous and your only job after you receive the box is to pick a name from the box, fill the box with some goodies for that person, and drop it off secretly. Each slip in the box will have a name, address and status of their family (names of family members, ages , pets, etc). It can be as simple as baking some cookies, picking up some cupcakes, writing out some verses or quotes that you like, or buying some lotions & bubble bath. It's completely up to you. If you missed Wednesday's meeting and would like to participate or didn't get your name in the box and want to, please email Christina at cnmigge@gmail.com.

Also a quick reminder for those that want to attend the Women's Retreat, the early-bird registration ends Jan. 15!
